He's currently serving as a very good foil for Angel in the comics! Even punched Angel's stomach out.
But, yeah. Much as I love Doyle, he pretty much existed only to get killed off. At least that would have been some closure for Whistler's plotline in less than ten years. >_> Anyway, I'm very glad you enjoyed!
